How do Miami's efforts include programming and support outside the classroom?
Numerous examples including the following:
- Providing a clearinghouse for multicultural programs through the Center for American and World Cultures (CAWC). In addition to facilitating a wide variety of events, programs, study guides, and courses, CAWC also hosts Miami's central calendar of diversity-focused events.

- Hosting an annual luncheon to honor "Women of Color." Under the leadership of the Women's Center, this event includes a keynote speaker, an international buffet, and an awards ceremony.

- Providing advising and support services for international students. The Office of International Education is responsible for keeping students and scholars informed about U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service rules and regulations. Call 513-529-5628 for more information.
- Welcoming diverse undergraduate students and their parents for the Pre-First-Year Institute at the beginning of fall semester to introduce students to campus and to support services.
- Providing funding for student organizations. There are more than 300 student organizations at Miami; approximately 50 are focused on some aspect of diversity.
- Developing and implementing programs, activities, and procedures designed to enhance the academic success, retention, and personal development of Miami's diverse student body. The Office of Diversity Affairs embodies a commitment to diversity as expressed through abilities, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic differences.
- Providing leadership education aimed at enhancing respect for the dignity of others. More than one-third of all Miami students participate in some form of leadership development before they graduate. Miamis Leadership Commitment comprises a variety of programs, conferences, and lectures that emphasize the importance of diverse, shared leadership.
- Offering diverse cultural events supported by Miami's Performing Arts Series and the Department of Theatre.
