If you are taking the computer-based, you should do so when the Essay or Test of Written English is offered. To register online or find out how to register by phone, visit www.toefl.org. Please note that you must take the international TOEFLinstitutional TOEFL scores are not acceptable.
If you are accepted for admission at Miami, you will take another English examination before you register for classes. You may be assigned to a special English course, depending on the results. In addition, if you have been awarded an assistantship with instructional duties, you will be required to take an English speaking test upon your arrival. New students are not allowed to assume any teaching duties until the English speaking test has been passed. Miami University does not have a full-time intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
