Miami University and the City of Oxford are compact and interdependent, with most locations accessible to pedestrians. Due to limited space, permits are required to park on campus and on several city streets.

First-year students are not permitted to bring a car to campus without expressed university authorization. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are permitted to bring a car but are required to register the vehicle with the university and obtain a parking permit. (Visitors must also obtain a permit at the Parking Office during business hours.)

For more information on student motor vehicle regulations, including permit requirements, visit Parking and Transportation Services.

Commuter Students
The Commuter Center serves students who do not live on campus and commute to school from Oxford or the surrounding area. Stop by 100 Shriver Center to take advantage of a variety of services and resources through its physical amenities and staff.

Construction
We're expanding! Many new building projects are currently underway on Miami's Oxford campus. Check out the construction updates that may affect traffic flow.

Getting Around Campus

Miami Metro
In addition to motor vehicles and bicycles, students get around campus using the Miami Metro bus service, which also provides transportation uptown and to several off-campus student housing areas. The buses run daily during fall and spring semesters. See Parking and Metro Maps for routes and scheduled hours of operation.

Nighttime Door-to-Door (NDD)
Established for the protection of students after dark, the NDD service provides a safe escort for persons traveling alone during evening hours, operating until 4 a.m. most days of the week. Students can call 529-2277 for this service.

Access Miami
Access Miami provides transportation for students with disabilities. During fall and spring semesters, Access Miami provides door-to-door transportation around campus and in the Oxford area. Call 529-2277 to access this service, which operates 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
