Student Organizations
One of the best ways to meet people and develop personal interests is to get involved in student organizations. Miami has 350 to choose from, ranging from career-focused groups like the Accountancy Club, to volunteer service organizations, such as the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. The Office of Student Activities and Leadership maintains a complete list.
Multicultural Groups
Many student multicultural organizations have been established at Miami to support and serve the interests of non-dominant cultures. Working to consolidate organizational efforts, the Office of Diversity Affairs strives to improve the climate for diversity through educational outreach and co-sponsorship of programming.
Arts and Entertainment
For students seeking entertainment, Miami offers a wide array of cultural venues and events. In addition to the Performing Arts Series, a popular showcase for world-renown companies and artists, the annual Lecture Series brings speakers such as columnist George Will and retired Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor to campus.
The Arts at Miami also includes the energetic schedule of changing exhibitions at the University's Art Museum and the various student vocal and instrumental performances and theater productions that provide entertainment throughout the year. Millett Hall, the home of RedHawk basketball and volleyball, serves as a larger venue for well-known musicians and performers; in recent years, the university has welcomed such artists as John Mayer, Dave Chappelle, and Jay Leno.
Those looking for yet more alternatives can take in one of the annual celebrations or festivals held in "Uptown" Oxford or check out AfterDark, a campus program providing free entertainment every Friday night at the Shriver Center. Beginning at 10 p.m., activities including first-run movies, performers, casino nights, and various interactive attractions provide exciting,
fun, safe, and healthy programming for students.

The RedHawks sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, and the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
Intramural sports and club sports attract about 1,800 teams in 45 sports.
Miami's state-of-the-art Recreational Sports Center includes courts for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and racquetball; two swimming pools with diving center; aerobics rooms; an indoor jogging track; a climbing wall; and a two-story fitness center.
Goggin Ice Center, home to Miami hockey games, contains two ice rinks available for public skating, summer resident programs, and private lessons.
The Outdoor Pursuit Center loans equipment and sponsors trips for camping, hiking, canoeing, rafting, and more.
