Board of Trustees approves four new degrees during May 16 meeting

The Miami University Board of Trustees approved four new academic degrees during its May 16 meeting at Marcum Hotel and Conference Center.

The Miami University Board of Trustees approved four new academic degrees — three undergraduate and one advanced — during its May 16 meeting at Marcum Hotel and Conference Center.

The board approved establishing a Bachelor of Arts in World Languages and Cultures; a Bachelor of Science in Education for Inclusive Education; and a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science.

Following approval by the University Senate and the Board of Trustees, the new degrees now move forward for state approval.

Other trustee actions included:

  • The approval of seven to the rank of professor emerita; one university distinguished professor emeritus; 10 to the rank of professor emeritus; four to the rank of administrator emerita; and two to the rank of administrator emeritus;
  • The renaming of Haines Boulangerie to Haines Food Court within Armstrong Student Center;
  • The acceptance of the Low Enrollment and Duplicate Program Report; and
  • The adjustment of the Hilda Bishop Loan Fund to the Hilda and Walter Bishop Scholarship.

Updates to the board were also provided by University Senate and University Advancement.
